Biography
Ambassador Zhang Qiyue is a career diplomat with rich experience in multilateral and bilateral diplomatic affairs. She has previously served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, and Consul General (Ambassador-level) of the Chinese Consulate General in New York respectively.
She started her diplomatic career in 1982, working for the United Nations Secretariat in its headquarters in New York and Geneva. Her work experience also includes Minister of the Chinese Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
From 1998 to 2004, she served as Spokesperson of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) as well as Deputy Director General of the Information Department, MFA. From 2012 to 2014 she served as Director General of the Department for Chinese Diplomatic Missions Abroad, MFA.
Ambassador Zhang Qiyue graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She is married, with one son.
She has assumed the post of Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Hellenic Republic from August 2018.
